Harness the robust nutritional value of Rye, a hardy cereal grain that provides an economical and energy-dense feed solution for cattle, swine, and older poultry. Our high-quality Rye Grain is an excellent alternative to corn or barley when used correctly in formulated rations.
Rye contains natural compounds (arabinoxylans) that can be anti-nutritional for non-ruminants (pigs and poultry). Proper feed formulation and inclusion limits are essential:
| Animal Type | Recommended Inclusion | Best Practice Notes |
| Cattle (Growing/Backgrounding) | Up to 100% replacement for corn (with no processing needed). | Limit inclusion in finishing cattle to less than $33\%$ to maintain feed intake and performance. |
| Swine (Growing/Finishing) | Recommended to replace no more than $50\%$ of corn/barley in the diet. | Pelleting or coarse grinding is recommended to improve palatability and performance. |
| Laying Hens (Older) | Max $40\%$ of the diet (introduced after peak production). | Not recommended for chicks or growing poultry due to potential for sticky droppings. |
ā ļø Important Safety Note: Ergot Risk
Rye is susceptible to ergot, a toxic fungus. Always visually inspect rye grain for dark kernels (ergot bodies) and use grain with certified low or no ergot contamination. Do not feed rye suspected of having high ergot levels, especially to breeding or young animals.
Maximize your feed budget and animal nutrition. Choose our Rye Grain for a smart, adaptable, and energy-dense feed ingredient.
